WHAT ARE YOU DOING AFTER COLLEGE?

If you are a junior or senior at Colorado State, you may be hearing this question a lot; parents, friends, professors, and recruiters are all curious what all your time, money, and investment in university will turn into once you graduate. You may be overwhelmed, but we’re here to aid your decision and help take what you learned in Chi Alpha and LAUNCH you into your next steps.

FOR FOUR YEARS YOU’VE BEEN PREPARING FOR WHAT’S NEXT; SO WHAT’S NEXT?

Depending on your degree, your upbringing, your Walk with God, or your community, you may know exactly where you’re headed and what you want to accomplish after you graduate.

But many students are not so sure how to begin a career, let alone all that comes with life off-campus. Bills, budgets, home purchases, marriages, church, and community all seem to change in the blink of an eye, but forever set the course for the rest of your career.

How do you keep the path God set you on during your time in Chi Alpha? How do you make decisions on your own? How do you disciple co-workers and keep on mission? Does discipleship even continue in the marketplace? These are all questions worth asking and we want to help you transition well as a child of God and disciple-maker.

LET’S BE HONEST: THE “REAL WORLD” IS DAUNTING. LET’S GET PREPARED!

It is scary jumping from 16 credit hour semesters to 9-to-5 work. And that is okay. LAUNCH's Goal is to help you know what God's calling you into; what dreams do you and God talk about? Knowing God's plans requires a letting go of our own plans, grounding ourselves in the truth of the bible, and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Trust the Holy Spirit and trust God is leading you! Allow yourself to dream with God and ask "God, what is your next step for me?" and follow God's peace into it.

John 16:13
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

HOW LONG WILL YOU SERVE AS A MISSIONARY?

upgnaxi.jpg

Months

Discover and participate in what God is doing around the world. MAPS volunteers connect their areas of ministry interest with needs on the field. University students can fulfill practicum and internship requirements for cross-cultural courses with an overseas assignment.

upgaweer.jpg

One to Two Years

Fulfilling a Missionary Associate term can be a foundational experience for those considering career missions. By spending a year or more thoroughly engaged in missions, MAs have time to build stronger relationships with local friends, learn the language, and assimilate into the culture.

As a Career

Career missionaries have diverse ministries and represent a wide range of educational and ministry backgrounds, but they all express a clear lifetime call to missions.

CAMPUS AND UNITED STATES MISSIONS

“To fulfill the Great Commission in the United States through partnership with the Church.” AGUSM MISSION

CMIT INTERNSHIP

They say “the person you come to college as never leaves, and the person you leave college as never changes.” Believe it or not, much of who you are entering college doesn’t stick around very long. You actually begin to form a new person as you discover new friends, new passions, new education. But even greater than things of university are ideas of life such as Truth, Purpose, & Identity. You’re welcome in this community, and you are welcomed to journey with us. We love following Jesus and are eager to see transformation that comes from knowing the Christ.

Chi Alpha’s mission is to reconcile students to Christ, equipping them through Spirit-Filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship and mission to transform the university, the marketplace, and the world. We are a Spirit-Empowered, diverse community of believers on university campuses, declaring in word and lifestyle our faith in Jesus .

“A life as a Chi Alpha Missionary is both rewarding and hard work. If Jesus has called you into full time ministry, the Chi Alpha internship is a great first step into that calling.”

A CMIT internship with XA is a 9-12 month opportunity to learn and develop the character and competencies necessary for a calling and mission among college students. It will include a Biblical and practical ministry education, character development, and wide variety of skill acquisition required for campus ministry service. It will involve learning and growing under the care and mentoring of men and women who have modeled fruitfulness and godliness.

Adult & Teen Challenge

By applying biblical principles, Teen Challenge helps people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive.

more-ministries.jpg

Chaplaincy Ministries

They minister to a group of people outside church walls. Like Jesus’ ministry in houses and streets and hillsides, they are shoulder to shoulder with people in the moments they need His hope and truth. Chaplains can turn a Humvee or a break room table into a pulpit or a place to serve Communion. Sometimes they provide counseling on a motorcycle or on top of a mountain. For chaplains, ministry opportunities and locations change every day.

ENTERING THE MARKETPLACE

MARKETPLACE WARRIOR

Did you know that one of the toughest mission fields is the marketplace? Whether you are an engineer, a doctor, a plumber, a teacher, or a business owner

"Often, people think of work as a bad thing. Some may even think it is a result of the fall (Gen 3:17–18) However, work was given before the fall. It was Adam’s responsibility to till the ground and take care of the Garden of Eden (Gen 2:15).

Our God is a worker too! He creates and sustains the world by the power of his Word (Heb 1:3). He is not idle, yet work is not an idol for Him. He prays for his saints in order to save them to the uttermost (Heb 7:25). We serve a God who neither sleeps nor slumbers (Ps 121:4). He is always active in his creation. Work is something we do here on earth and something we will also do in eternity. It is a way that we imitate God and bring honor to him. If work is something we will do throughout eternity, we must ask ourselves, “How can we work in such a way that God is glorified?”

It should be noted that for many Christians God has called for the workplace to be their primary mission field.  It is in the workplace that many of us can spread the salt and light of Christ to the most people in an intimate way (cf. Matt 5:13–14)." (Bible.org)

Let’s live on mission, glorifying God in the marketplace together.
